Logistics chiefs from all the key auto makers to meet next week

ST PETERSBURG 14 June 2010: Logistics executives from at least 16 principal car-makers are to meet in St Petersburg next week to discuss improvements in Russia’s networks and processes. Joining them will major tier suppliers and dozens of service providers, in the most important gathering of the year for the vital logistics sector of the automotive market.

The car-makers will include Avtoframos, BMW, Chrysler, Daimler, Ford, Gefco (representing Peugeot-Citroen), General Motors, MAN, Mazda, Renault, Nissan, Sollers (which has a joint venture with Fiat), Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota and Volkswagen.
The meeting will be the Automotive Logistics Russia conference, to be held at the Corinthia Hotel, St Petersburg from 22-24 June 2010. The conference starts with a networking reception on the evening of Tuesday 22nd, and will be in full session on Wednesday and Thursday 23-24 June.
The final day will conclude with a special tour for delegates of the Rolf SCS vehicle terminal in St Petersburg.
With faltering prospects for growth in Western Europe, due to cuts in government spending and the financial stresses of the Eurozone, the broader Europe region’s automotive focus is switching even more towards Russia.

Meanwhile, the country’s connection to the booming China market provides an exciting additional opportunity for Russia’s logistics sector.

Speakers at the conference include Jan Bures, head of group service for Volkswagen Rus, Dmitry Federov, logistics and dealer support manager for Nissan Rus,Jean-Philippe Jouandin, supply chain director of Renault Russia, Ivan Karasev, head of logistics for Sollers, and Alexey Serezhenkin from the Association of Russian Automakers.

They will be joined by a wide range of logistics service providers, reviewing the supply chain and transport options which include road, rail, ocean & short sea, and ports & terminals.
There will also be expert contributions from legal firms which help the industry tackle the increasingly onerous customs and taxation system.

The Automotive Logistics Russia conference is part of a global series or high-level meetings, which in 2010 are being held in Bonn, Beijing, Sao Paul, Los Angeles, Detroit and Chennai, as well as in St Petersburg. The conference is supported by Gold sponsors Gefco, a full-service LSP, and Major Auto Trans and Rolf SCS, both providers of finished vehicle transport services.
The worldwide series of Automotive Logistics events is supported by Global sponsor Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics.

Silver sponsors for the Russia conference are BLG Logistics, Finnlines, Priority Freight, Schoeller Arca and Selsystem.
