Getting control of logistics is key to future growth for Europe’s largest potential automotive market
22 - 24 June 2009, Hotel Radisson SAS Slavyanskaya, Moscow
MOSCOW – 3 June 2009. When foreign carmakers last year scrambled to get production started in Russia, and non-domestic brands enjoyed huge popularity among Russian consumers, logistics proved to be the critical factor in delivering on demand.
Immediate economic conditions have changed since then. But the ever-present logistics challenges of Russia remain. Getting control of processes, price and delivery have become more important than ever.
Fresh opportunities in the market are still arising. The involvement of Gaz in the new ownership of Opel demonstrates that, as does government determination to continue to build a Russian-based industry - and to use tariffs as a part of doing so.
This year's Automotive Logistics Russia 2009 will again be the place where logistics professionals from OEMs and Tier suppliers meet LSPs and facilities providers. It is the fourth annual conference on the subject, and has demonstrated its value as a place for meeting, learning and doing business in the region.
This year key confirmed participants from OEMs include: Michael Senkov, Director of Logistics at Gaz; Natalia Petrenko, Vehicle Logistics Director of Ford Russia; Jan Bures, Head of Group Service for Volkswagen Russia; Natalia Parfenyuk, Head of Logistics for Peugeot Citroen Russia; and Dmitriy Bulaenko, Logistics Director at Sollers.
They will be joined by senior executives from RailTransAuto, Russian Transport Lines, Wallenius Wilhelmsen, Gefco, CHEP and others within both Russian and external logistics service providers.
Conference Director Louis Yiakoumi noted: ‘Last year Russia edged head of Germany to become the largest car market in Europe. The underlying demand is still there, and will show through as the economy picks up.
‘Getting logistics right is a huge step towards benefitting from that growth,’ he continued. ‘This conference is truly a unique forum for the car-makers and logistics providers to meet and do it.’
